Formulation Technologist

This role includes exploring potential raw materials and interacts with roles such as Formulation and PD leader, Process technologists, Site R&D Head, SRA, Commercial, Supply and if applicable, Marketing stakeholders. This role is involved (if applicable) in:

• Business continuity situation such as contingencies, food safety risks, etc., Formulator is the main contact to address those situations with a great knowledge of both product and market needs. This role is focused on support of operation to continue efficient manufacturing while detecting improvement opportunities to work along with Commercial or Supply if needed.
• In innovation projects this role is the main contact to address project requirements to rw materials and support collaboration of Innovation and Formulation teams. This role allows to deliver innovation project on time while covering specific criteria related to supply, commercial and raw material & finished product trends shared by the OE and always working hand to hand with PD and Process team.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Accountable for delivering optimized formulas across the entire regional product portfolio, S&T (Science and Technology) Pillars, Value Chain, and business continuity (if applicable) aligned with Product & Formulation framework (in compliance with Safe for Design principles, climate requirements, product performance, preservation, etc.)
• Identification of Potential Raw Materials. Working with suppliers and internal stakeholders for raw material development. Arranging for trials of the raw materials and following up of the subsequent results
• Leverages personal expertise along with internal and external organizational knowledge to improve product quality and/or reduce prime costs through the development of new/alternative raw materials. Works in close collaboration with Commercial (Procurement) representatives and raw material suppliers
• Responsible for raising risks considering all information provided by local market and region, including regulatory, commercial and supply needs
• Responsible for continuous improvement of existing Formulation Framework and support Product and Formulation frameworks creation for Innovation / Renovation projects
• Supporting business continuity needs of the sites on his/her responsibility (if applicable)
• Responsible for designing vitamin and mineral premixes design (if applicable) to deliver the required nutritional design of a product in Innovation, Renovation or to correct nutritional deviations (if applicable)
• Accountable for MRA preparation for Raw Materials and following MQM Standards
• Formulator is responsible for designing and optimizing formulas in ARA delivering nutritional compliance. This role is also responsible for tracking and adjusting nutrition when needed
• Lead new raw materials development and raw materials optimization activities relevant to R&D and responsible for drafting raw material specifications
• Continuously enhances knowledge in the field of raw materials across the entire product portfolio and shares this expertise with colleagues
• Serves as the primary point of contact (PoC) and subject matter expert on raw materials and their applications, both within and outside the department
• Develops project plans and prioritizes execution based on criteria such as technical feasibility, long-term robustness/reproducibility, and the scale of prime cost savings
• Aligns project objectives and execution pathways with all relevant stakeholders, both within and outside the department
• Conducts validation trials and assessments to confirm the technical feasibility and financial viability of scaling up pilot plant results to full industrial production
• Maintains a broad professional perspective and robust knowledge base, while fostering collaborative working relationships with relevant functional teams both regionally and globally. Drives knowledge transfer between the region and the Global R&D teams within their area of responsibility
• Key user for recipes and raw materials digital systems
• Perform as an expert in associates’ trainings related to raw materials development.

What are we looking for?

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Food Engineer, Food Science, Chemical Engineer)
• Advanced English required
• At least 3 years’ experience in Food Manufacturing factories, preferably in Quality and/or R&D.
• Product Design/Formulation/Optimization experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Green/Black Belt Six Sigma
• Master’s degree in nutrition/chemistry/quality
• PD/Innovation experience or managing MKT as stakeholder
• Supply/Commercial experience or managing Quality as stakeholder
• Strong understanding of scientific methods, and statistical analysis.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency.
