Senior Manual Test Engineer

Job Description

The client is a European insurance tech company that provides embedded insurance and digital insurance‑management solutions across industries such as e‑commerce, automotive, travel, bancassurance, and cyber. Their technology allows businesses to integrate insurance products directly into their customer journeys. End-customers are able to purchase insurance with just a few clicks and manage policies digitally.

• Own end-to-end quality: Make sure the user experience works well across web and backend platforms, from the UI through services, integrations and data
• Drive test strategy and planning: Help design test strategies, including detailed API and integration testing approaches. Create, maintain and run thorough test plans and test cases across multiple browsers and platforms, with clear coverage and traceability
• Validate complex integrations: Test complex scenarios involving third-party APIs, internal tools and data synchronization. Work with other teams to check dependencies, data flows and performance at every touchpoint
• Ensure backend reliability: Test APIs thoroughly for both functional and non-functional aspects (performance, reliability, error handling), and validate data at the database level
• Support delivery teams: Test new features in depth and give development and IT teams feedback they can act on during the development lifecycle
• Own defect management: Analyze and troubleshoot problems, do root cause analysis, document findings and work with the right teams to get issues fixed on time. Communicate quality risks clearly to the team and the client
• Improve QA processes: Keep suggesting ways to improve software quality and make the test process more efficient, including smart use of AI tools and Spec-Driven Development practices
• Maintain QA documentation: Create and maintain test reports, test strategies and QA documentation throughout the test lifecycle. Review API documentation and suggest improvements
  

Must have:

• Proven experience in software testing roles, with deep knowledge of QA methodologies, tools and processes
• Strong API testing skills (e.g., Postman): building requests, reviewing API documentation and designing test scenarios that cover functional, non-functional, performance and reliability aspects
• Solid experience designing and running test strategies for APIs, integrations and database-level validation
• Strong understanding of backend systems, databases, SQL and the basics of system architecture
• Hands-on testing of modern web applications and eCommerce platforms built with React, PHP, Go or similar technologies
• Able to plan, design and run tests for both frontend UI and backend services, including cross-browser and cross-platform testing
• Hands-on experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, X-Ray, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Aqua)
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose failures and improve test coverage
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Able to work well both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills, with fluent Business English (spoken and written)
  
  AI Delivery Practices:
• Familiar with Spec-Driven Development and AI-assisted delivery practices
• Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude) to generate and review test scenarios, automation test scenarios, test cases and QA documentation
• Able to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs, spot gaps and edge cases, and make sure they match business requirements, while taking ownership of the final result
• Uses AI regularly to make testing more efficient while keeping quality standards high

• Test automation experience (UI and/or API)
• Experience with performance or load testing tools
