API Engineer

Squads Labs is seeking a technically exceptional API Engineer to design and implement a financial APIs platform (Grid) that abstracts complex infrastructure into developer-friendly interfaces. Our REST APIs enable global USD accounts, borderless payments, yield integration, asset trading, and card programs without traditional banking dependencies.

Founded in 2021, we started with the release of Squads Protocol, the autonomous finance layer built on Solana. Secured by Solana’s permissionless ledger, Squads Protocol enables programmable payments, 24/7 USD liquidity, competitive yields, and security enforced by deterministic code, not corporate promises. We build on Squads Protocol to bring this stack to every developer, business, and individual.

What You'll Build

• Core financial APIs powering payments, accounts, cards, trading, and data services.
• Developer-friendly abstractions over complex financial infrastructure and compliance requirements.
• High-performance systems handling global transactions and real-time financial data.
• API gateway architecture with authentication, rate limiting, and comprehensive developer tooling.

Core Expertise

• Expert-level REST API design, authentication, rate limiting, developer experience.
• Payment processing, account management, and financial transaction systems.
• High-scale system architecture and database design for financial data.

Technical Stack:

• Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, Go (Rust strongly preferred).
• Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis.
• Infrastructure: AWS/GCP, API gateways, message queuing.
• Security: OAuth 2.0, JWT, financial-grade API security standards.

Bonus Points:

• Crypto knowledge.
• Solana blockchain ecosystem and Rust programming.
• Crypto exchange APIs and Web3 financial services.
• Multi-currency and cross-border payment infrastructure.
