Backend Team Lead (Ruby)

The Backend Team Lead is responsible for leading the development of our core crypto payment processing platform. This role combines hands-on backend engineering with team leadership and close collaboration across cross-functional teams. The Team Lead will work with Product, DevOps, QA, and other departments to ensure the platform remains scalable, stable, and easy to evolve. The ideal candidate is an experienced Ruby developer (without Rails), confident in technical decision-making, and passionate about mentoring others and writing clean, reliable code.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a backend team
• Design and implement backend architecture and services in Ruby (without Rails)
• Write clean, maintainable code
• Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance
• Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, QA, DevOps, Design, FinOps, and Data teams
• Drive technical decisions and ensure system reliability and scalability

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Ruby developer
• 1+ year working with Ruby without Rails
• Experience leading or mentoring backend engineers - ideally 2+ years in a leadership role
• Proven ability to plan team workload, set priorities, and manage delivery timelines
• Experience conducting regular code reviews with clear, constructive feedback
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, Redis, and Docker, Git
• Strong grasp of system architecture and REST API design
• Russian – native or fluent; English – upper-intermediate
